At NHJS, character development is a cornerstone of every student’s education experience. We believe that fostering values and social skills is just as important as academic achievement. Our key character development initiatives, collectively referred to as Other Learning Experiences (O.L.E.), strive to nurture not just successful learners, but also autonomous individuals ready to navigate the complexities of the world with confidence and empathy.
Student Leadership
Prefectorial Board – A Prefectorial Board in a primary school is a group of selected students, typically appointed by the school, who take on leadership and responsibility roles to assist in the smooth running of the school. Prefects, as these students are called, are often chosen for their exemplary behavior, leadership qualities, and ability to serve as role models for their peers.
Student Council – a group of students elected by their peers to represent the student body and work together with teachers and administrators to improve school life. It serves as a bridge between students and school leadership, giving students a voice in matters that affect them. Typically, the student council is responsible for organizing school events, promoting school spirit, leading community service projects, and discussing issues raised by students.
Offered throughout the school year, our Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) provide a diverse array of enriching experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom setting, enhancing the educational journey of our students. These activities are designed to develop vital skills in leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking, while also fostering personal growth and resilience.
Each milestone programme serves as a pinnacle experience for its respective grade level, tailored to meet the developmental needs of the students. These programmes are meticulously crafted to be delivered annually, accompanying students at every stage of their educational journey at our school.
