Theme: Human + AI: Exploring the Future of Learning and Careers
What does the future of work look like in a world increasingly shaped by Artificial Intelligence? And, more importantly, what role will humans continue to play in it?
These questions took centre stage at our school’s Education & Career Day last Wednesday, 21 October, held under the theme “Human +AI: Exploring the Future of Learning and Careers, and Artificial Intelligence.” The event brought together Year 10 to 12 students, teachers, staff and parents for an inspiring day of conversations, exploration, and opportunities to connect with the ever-evolving world of higher education and careers.
The day opened with remarks from our Principal, Mr Ang, who welcomed the school community and encouraged students to embrace curiosity, remain adaptable, and prepare themselves for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
One of the highlights of the event was an engaging panel discussion featuring two invited career speakers with expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Technology. Through their insights and experiences, students gained a deeper understanding of how AI is transforming industries, reshaping career pathways, and influencing the skills required in the future workplace.
A particularly meaningful takeaway from the discussion was the continued importance of human skills in an increasingly technology-driven world. While AI can enhance productivity, process information, and support decision-making, skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, empathy, and collaboration remain essential. The conversation served as an encouraging reminder that the future is not simply about competing with technology, but learning how to work alongside it.
For our teachers, this was certainly good news! As AI continues to advance, the development of human character, relationships, and interpersonal skills remains an important part of education. Preparing students for the future means equipping them not only with technological knowledge, but also with the wisdom and values to use it meaningfully.
Beyond the panel discussion, the event also featured a university fair with 51 university participants from different countries, providing students and parents with valuable opportunities to explore international higher education pathways, learn about various academic programmes, and engage directly with university representatives. The event concluded with closing remarks from our distinguished alumna, Vanessa Jaya, who studied Economics and Management at the University of Oxford. Returning to our school community, Vanessa shared a meaningful perspective on the journey beyond high school, inspiring students to
approach their future with confidence, purpose, and an openness to new opportunities.
Education & Career Day 2026 was a meaningful reminder that preparing for the future requires more than keeping up with technological advancements. It calls for a balanced approach that embraces innovation while nurturing the uniquely human qualities that make us who we are.
As we continue to explore the possibilities of a world shaped by AI, one message remains clear: The future belongs not only to those who understand technology, but also to those who know how to use it with creativity, compassion, and purpose.
