Learning Through Writing, Growing Through Competition
Since 2003, students from NationalHigh Jakarta School (NHJS) have participated in Chinese writing competitions. The number of participants has grown from just five to 21 this year, reflecting students’ growing interest in Chinese writing and the school’s continued efforts to promote Chinese language learning.
The Chinese Creative Writing Contest for Overseas Youth (华文创想曲) is an international competition organised by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Jiangsu Province, China. It encourages young people worldwide to express their thoughts and experiences in Chinese and share their cultural perspectives.
This year, all 21 NHJS participants received awards. One student received Second Prize, while the other 20 received Excellence Awards. These achievements recognise the students’ hard work and dedication.
Taking part in the competition helps students improve their Chinese writing skills and build confidence. Receiving recognition for their work also encourages them to appreciate their achievements and identify areas for further improvement.
For NHJS, the growing number of participants reflects increasing engagement in Chinese writing activities. The competition also provides valuable opportunities for students to apply their classroom learning in real writing experiences.
NHJS will continue to encourage students to participate in Chinese writing competitions and cultural activities, helping them strengthen their language skills, discover their potential, and gain confidence through learning and creative expression.
